Thinglink Experience

Everybody knows that while learning, linking up things is a very effective way to learn easily and permanently. It is effective because these links help to you remember what you learnt previously, it enhances cognitive processes because you create connections between the subjects that you learnt and the things that will remind them to you, you create codes, acronyms, anagrams, you also use pictures, images, words, names, and even books for this purpose and you involve in a cognitive process. The ways you can use are various and you can also diversify these ways with  the help of technology, how does ? The answer is Thinglink.

                                                        What is Thinglink ?

Thinglink is a web 2.0 tool that enables to you create interactive images by tagging texts, videos, links, 360 content interactive with texts, maps, audios and more of them to your images, as the name implies it gives you the chance to "add links to the things". By using Thinglink you have the ability to augment the images or drawings.

It has a big potential (like other technologies that can be used in the education) to making education process more effective. In 2008 Thinglink won the UNESCO ICT award in Education Prize.

     How to use Thinglink ?

You can use Thinglink for editorial and marketing purposes, for classroom learning and e-learning and for corporate training. After you enter an e-mail and create your Thinglink account you have the chance to choose one of them that is most suitable for you. Then you are wanted to enter your name and your role. Because of the reason that i choosed the classroom learning i have two optins to choose my role, these roles are student and teacher.

When you choose the student role you are expected to enter your date of birth and an invite code. When you choose the teacher role you are wanted to enter your school name, school district or location (it is optional if you don't want to give this information you can skip it), school type  and subject such as English, math, science, foreign language, history, art and other if you have an invite code you can enter this code too, then you can start to use thinglink.

In the home page you will see my media, explore, courses, my students and create options. You can also see your account and change the settings of your account. When you click the create button you will see options like uplod image, video, 360 VR image and 360 video, choose one of them and continue. Before starting if you want to have an idea you can examine the samples.

For example i choosed an image and i added a link related with my subject from my blog and i also attached a video the image i choosed. After you choose your image there is a page that you will see and there are three options: add tag, settings and done. Click the add tag and choose the most appropriate option for you, these options are add text and media, add text label, add content from website and create tour.

From the settings you can change  color scheme, add tag animtion, hide logo and upload audio, it is all in your hands. After you create your Thinglink click the done button and it is ready! You can add more actions too. For example you can clone your Thinglink, post it to the collection, see your statistics, replace background and delete your Thinglink. You can also edit it. Sharing your Thinglink is also possible and it is very easy because there are many options for example you can share it as a link, as a code, publish it to a school, download it offline and you can also donate your lesson.

Like always i also tried this tool and i created a Thinglink about the TPACK and SAMR models which i talked about previously in my blog and here is the link of my Thinglink :
