Virtual Reality Review

Isn't it fascinating that going anywhere you want to be without any movement? We always deram about being in another place when we have hard times, especially in those days it is an invaluable opportunity isn't it . And having this chance thanks to the technology is even more impressive ! Most probably you all heard about this technology and you all know something about it less or more yes the technology we are talking about is  Virtual Reality. Let's have a look:

                                                         What is Virtual Reality ?

In a general sense Virtual reality is a computer technology that creates a simulated environment. It is a computer-generated simulation taht immerse you 3D worlds, with a help of special electronic equipment such as a helmet which has a screen inside it and gloves with sensors you can also interact with these world. For example i guess the most similar sample of virtual reality to you is three dimensional glasses, you wear these glasses and find yourself in the middle of the film i think it displays the power of virtual reality. Head Mounted Display, Sensorama, Virtual Boy, Demokles' Sword, Oculust Rift, Samsung VR, Sony Morpheus, HTC and CAVE are some examples of virtual reality technologies.

     Usages of Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is generally used in education, entertainment, medicine, military and aviation fields. With the help of virtual reality for investigating an open or close place a virtual tour can be done, in the health sector it can  be used for the education of the nurses or while teaching dangerous operations to the students. Virtual reality is also used to make games more realistic and attractive, conduct flight simulations for pilot members and arrange virtual raids for the police and soldiers. Designers, architects and engineers can also benefit from the virtual reality to pursue their designing and previewing process.

   Virtual Reality in Language Education

The lack of real language environment can be eliminated with the help of virtual reality and learning of target language can be conducted in a simulated environment. In that way the the number of input will increase and learning process will accelerate and be more permanent. For example in the study which was conducted by Chang, Sheldon and Hand in 2012 the Mandarin Chinese was tried to be teached with the help of CAVE (a virtual reality environment).

Virtual reality presents real interaction and communication to the learners and it introduces the culture of target language too. Like augmented reality it also gets interest of the students and motivate them, students want to use this technology and learn with it. By enabling gamification in the language education virtual reality is an effective and useful way to make learning process more entertaining. However, using technologies like virtual reality isn't cheap, it nesseciate money and using these technologies are expensive but maybe in the future the usage of these technologies can gain more currency and they can be used more widely both by the educators and students to enrich the language learning process.
